FTAdviser’s Top 100 Financial Advisers list has recognised Punter Southall as one of the UK’s very best, placing 9th in their rankings.

The Top 100 ranks companies using a range of measures and showcases some of the best financial advisory businesses working in the UK.

In compiling the list, FTAdviser look at the growth rate of the advisory businesses, the number of years’ experience each business has managing assets in different economic and interest-rate environments, how well-qualified their advisers are, and their client retention rates, among other data.

This year, for the first time, the list also rewarded firms that are either chartered by the CII or accredited by the CISI at a company level.

Punter Southall’s placing of 9th in the list is a jump of seven places from last year, when the business came in at number 16.

Commenting on how Punter Southall has gone about navigating a year of volatility and change, Chief Executive Jonathan Punter said:

“We’ve always focused on building strong relationships with every client across Punter Southall. The trust we’ve forged has been important to everyone during this time and means we have continued to talk, to transact and to deliver. This has been reflected in the level of business we’ve maintained and the progress of new projects.”

Henry Denne, Head of Financial Planning at Punter Southall Wealth, supported this view in an interview with the FTAdviser earlier this week. He asserted that it was the client-planner relationships that have helped the company to navigate these challenging times:

“For us, it’s been about maintaining contact in times of uncertainty and being a friendly and reassuring voice in the background of all the confusion. In terms of change and adaptability, it’s allowed us to think about our business differently in the last 10 months than we have previously for the last 10 years.”

Since 1999, Punter Southall Wealth has been providing advice to help families and businesses make confident financial decisions. The company was one of the first financial planning firms to be awarded Chartered status by the Chartered Insurance Institute, which reflects the professional achievements of our colleagues and the high standards of practice that our clients can expect from us. By building trust and keeping agile in uncertain times, we help our clients plan for a more secure financial future.
